Upcoming webinars and presentations: Rewarding relationships with translation agencies and pricing strategies for translators

Training – consulting
I wanted to share the upcoming webinars that I will be giving this year, since the marketing for them has already started and I have received questions for more information. Pricing strategies and working with agencies seem to be what most freelance translators struggle with the most and I look forward to talking about these subjects and give some great tips. I would love to hear your input or feedback on these subjects.

1. Webinar: How to create profitable and rewarding business relations with translation agencies

On Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM CEST (Central European Summer Time) I will be holding a webinar on how to create profitable and rewarding relationships with translation agencies through the Alexandria Project. Here is more information and you can sign up by clicking on the title.
Abstract: There are a lot of complaints in the industry of abusive relationships between translation agencies and freelance translators these days. But it does not have to be that way. Here are tips and strategies on how to find good agencies to work for, get paid a decent amount of money for your work and how to create long lasting and profitable relationships with agencies. Specific details we will cover are what to look for in agencies, where to find them, payment practices, translation tests, contracts, cat tools, project management tools and customer service.

2. The price is right – pricing strategies for your translation services

Abstract: How do you set and get a fair price for your translation work? Here are some tips and strategies for finding the right price for your services and finding customers that want to pay your price. This session will discuss how to calculate your target rate, how to set minimum fees, rush charges and other extra fees, how to deal with free tests, and give you some strategies on how to negotiate rates, raise or adjust your rates, optimizing with cat-tools and the mindset for getting paid what you are worth.
Apart from these webinars, I will also host a webinar in interview format for ATA soon. This one is about how we as freelance translators can help inform the public, and in particular students about translation and interpreting as a profession and as a career. I will interview past winners of the School Outreach contest for some tips and information.
